About Us
Anchor of Joy International is a faith-guided nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting underserved communities across East Africa.
Mission
To empower underserved communities in East Africa by advancing education, health, economic self-sufficiency, and spiritual growth through sustainable programs and humanitarian support that improve lives and create lasting opportunities.
Officially registered in the state of Ohio and currently in the process of obtaining 501(c)(3) status, the organization was founded in response to the challenges experienced by local people in East Africa—challenges the founders deeply understand through their own roots in Uganda.
Driven by compassion and a commitment to sustainable change, the founders partnered with local authorities, volunteers, and well-wishers to launch the organization’s first major initiative: a large community health camp held in Mbale, Eastern Uganda. The turnout was overwhelming, demonstrating both the need and the community’s trust. The camp provided health education, screenings, and referrals—laying the foundation for future outreach programs.
In 2024, the team conducted school visits across several schools in Mbale to better understand the barriers pupils face. Essential scholastic materials were distributed to the most vulnerable students, and the organization pledged to continue supporting schools with break and lunch snacks to address nutrition-related learning challenges.
Anchor of Joy International continues to grow its vision through grassroots involvement, community partnerships, and service programs that uplift families with dignity, joy and opportunity.
